Weird Wire: A blind hole-in-one?

Topic: Weird Wire™

What do you consider the most important factors in mastering the perfect golf game?  Posture and stance?  Good follow through? ...  The ability to see?

That third factor was shockingly not at all important to Leo Fiyalko, a legally blind, 92 year old who hit a hole-in-one at Cove Cay Country Club in Florida.  From the article:

Fiyalko is 92 and has macular degeneration. He’s been golfing for 60 years, but his 110-yard shot with a five iron on Jan. 10 was his first hole-in-one.

“I was just trying to put the ball on the green,” Fiyalko said.

Wow.  Some of us have perfect vision and manage to hit the ball into the lake every single time.  Mr. Fiyalko, are you offering lessons?

Gamesviller "lucky345" of Gibbon Glade, PA, won $4,049  playing Three-Eyed Bingo. What will she spend her winnings on?

GV: How did you react when you found out that you had won?
lucky345: I was so excited that I jumped up knocking just about everything from my desk to go and wake up my husband. I just could not believe that I won. I called all of my grandchildren that night.

What will you spend your winnings on? Anything special just for you?
I have a bird and her name is Polly. She is the world to me so I'm going to buy her a new floor cage.

My husband because he bought this computer for me 5-6 years ago for me to sit in the evenings and play my games. Thanks to him I am a winner.

That honesty is the best policy.

Weird Wire: Cheeseburger in a can?

Topic: Weird Wire™

Here at Gamesville HQ, we are well aware that many delicious food items come in cans - for instance, soup, pineapple, and tuna fish. (OK, not so much anchovies, Vienna sausage, or spam, but you can't win them all.)

But the idea of food-that-comes-in-a-can has reached a new level of oddness thanks to one German company:

Cheeseburger in a Can

We suppose it could be worse ... Beef bourguignon in a can, perhaps?  Eggplant parmigiana in a can? And this just begs the question - where do the fries come in?

For now, we'll take our cheeseburgers the way God and Nature intended: straight off the grill and 100% uncanned.

Calabrese-1 wins Three-Eyed Bingo!

Topic: Members

Gamesviller "calabrese-1" of Italy, won $1,874 playing Three-Eyed Bingo on December 19. Does she have any plans for her winnings? And what kind of animal would she be?

GV:  Describe what it was like when you won: what were you feeling? Was there anyone there to share the moment with you?
calabrese-1:  I was thrilled and I was unfortunately alone!  I did wish I had  someone to share the moment.

Any plans for your winnings?
I thank you again for the winnings. I just wish the jackpot was higher ... I would have invested  the money in a trip to USA which was always a dream of mine.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
If I could choose to be an animal, I would be a dog for the wonderful quality to love unconditionally and for their faithful attachment!

What is your most treasured personal possession, and why?
The most important thing I possess is a watch my father gave me when I was 10 years old.  It makes a wonderful souvenir of my father.

Thank you for taking the time to talk with us. Enjoy your winnings, and thanks for playing at Gamesville.com!

Thank you again for your congratulations and I hope one day to win more to be able to came to visit the USA.  I also thank the other players for their congratulations!  I have a sister in California and she just finished writing a book of our family history ... she is the one that turned me on to Gamesville.

Magic 21 Pays Out Twice In One Day

Topic: Members

Magic 21 is on fire! First, boogr2 of Benton City, WA, won $4,609 yesterday playing Magic 21 ... then, later that same day, sugarshack748010 of Shawnee, OK, scored $210! Good job!

Useless fact: In Shawnee, OK, grass and weeds more than 12 inches in height are a code violation. Exceptions to the rule include sunflowers and wild flowers.

Bonus photo album: Enjoy these scenic pictures of lovely Benton City!

Best Avatar: angiebo1

Topic: Avatars

This week's Best Avatar comes from Gamesviller - and animal lover - angiebo1 of St. Lucia in the West Indies (pictured at left).

Angiebo1 says: "The background represents the beautiful beaches in my island.  I've got 5 dogs - 1 Alsatian named Crush, 1 Richback named Fluke, 2 Mongrels named Curlytail and Moony, and a mix Alsatian and Mongrel named Blackjaw, they all guard the premises very effectively. I've also got 4 cats, and they co-exist very well with the dogs. I am the mother 5 children, all grownup and on their own, 2 grand-daughters, and 1 great grand daughter, and I am an only child; incidentally there are only females in my immediate family, and we are all very close, I am only 57 years young. I've got two of my daughters playing on Gamesville after they heard me talk about it so much.  The effect of my avatar gives a good representation of me and how I pride myself in the way I feel about myself."

Some facts about St. Lucia:  St. Lucia gained independence from Great Britain in 1979.  It is a volcanic island and thus, more mountainous than many other Caribbean islands.  St. Lucia boasts the highest ratio in the world for number of Nobel laureates produced with respect to the total population of the nation.

And with an average January low temperature of 76 degrees Farenheit ... Angie, we really, really wish we lived where you live right now.

Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest

Topic: Hollywood

A long time ago, but somehow in the future... Fox Home Entertainment delivers an outrageously funny look at the Star Wars universe with Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest, a parody of the movie that started the Star Wars phenomenon, Star Wars: Episode IV, A New Hope. We just got our hands on a copy of the DVD, and it's awesome.

In Blue Harvest, we find Peter, Lois, Chris, Stewie, Brian and some of Quahog's "finest" in the middle of George Lucas' beloved scifi epic. This spoof sees Han Solo (Peter) Dumpster diving for furniture; Darth Vader (Stewie) soiling his diapers; Luke (Chris) battling against "Thai" fighters; C-3PO (Quagmire) flirting with a 1980s dot-matrix printer; and even the Evil Monkey chilling at the Cantina.

This storyline has the typical Family Guy brand of raunchy humor and throwaway gags--so it's definitely not for children. However, the story is surprising respectful of the Star Wars mythos even while sending it up and pointing out lapses in logic; the creators manage to pay homages to Star Wars without losing any of Family Guy's edge.

In addition to the the near hour-long episode, the DVD includes four minutes of never-before-seen material; an uncensored track; animatics; commentaries; and interviews with Seth MacFarlane and George Lucas. For super fans, there's also available a special edition DVD that features collectible packaging, trading cards, an exclusive brochure, 3D glasses, and a t-shirt.

Check out a clip from the DVD below...
