Bingo Daubers

Topic: Bingo Life

Bingo daubers. What are they? Where do they come from?

If you're an online bingo player only (and who would blame you?), you may not be familiar with bingo daubers.

Basically, the dauber is used to mark the numbers on your bingo cards. Prior to the inclusion of daubers as a marking system for bingo, plastic chips were used to mark numbers for bingo cards.

When daubers hit the scene in 1989, they became a very popular choice for players because daubers stamp or paint the number called, where as chips present the risk of being moved or misplaced on the bingo sheet. Daubers come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes and can be special ordered and customized to a player's liking.

Serious bingo players consider all aspects of a dauber to help their game play.

TIP: The ideal dauber must fit snug in the players hand to ensure speed and dispense the correct amount of ink on every daub to create a clean look to the card. But of utmost importance is that a dauber must also display a color that matches a player's mood and personality. After all, it's said that the right dauber can deliver the right amount of luck!

In our very own Bingo Zone players can customize their dauber to sleect what color they'd like to daub bingo cards. Which color do you use? Is it a reflection of your personality?

Winners Hit It Big In Three-Eyed Bingo!

Topic: Members

A big congratulations to Gamesviller Gabenyahkyle of Beverly Hills, FL who won $3,753 this morning playing Three-Eyed Bingo: Bingo from outer space!

Of course, Gabenyahkyle's not alone: A scant two weeks ago, Cast568 of Granada Hills won $4,999 playing Three-Eyed Bingo. And today she tells us about her win, how she plans to spend her winnings, and her wild streak. Read on...

Gamesville: What was it like when you realized you won?
Cast568: When B7 came up (my last number on my cards) I froze! Then I called my daughter into the room--she didn't believe I had it until I showed her the winning board.

What will you spend your winnings on?
This couldn't of came at a better time. I am out of work at this time and it will help pay bills.

If you were an animal in the wild, what would you be?
I don't think I would want to be an animal in the wild;  I think the world is wild enough as it is.

What is your most treasured possession and why?
My most treasured possession is my children and grandchildren--without them, I would be lost.

What kind of game or service would you like Gamesville to make next?

I think the [Three-Eyed Bingo] jackpot should be won at least twice a month. You would have a lot more players playing when the jackpot was low.

Thanks, Cast568! Congratulations to you and Gabenyahkyle on your wins!

Talk With Fred Seibert About Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!

Topic: Hollywood

"Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" is an animated children's television series created by Bob Boyle. The first season debuts on DVD today, and we spoke with one of the executive producers, Fred Seibert, about Wubbzy and what it's like to develop programming for preschoolers.

Thanks for joining us, Fred. What attracted you to Wubbzy? What makes this show different from other preschool shows?
The creator, Bob Boyle. I've worked with him for 10-12 years now on shows like "Oh Yeah! Cartoons" and "Fairly Odd Parents". He's a great guy, a relentless creative force, full of wonderful ideas and wonderful characters. What he's done, visually, with Wubbzy is take his love for Japanese vinyl toys and interpret them through his own visual style, and just made them irresistible.

Are there lessons you want kids to learn from watching Wubbzy?
Bob wanted the show to feature lessons for children with an underlying message of friendship. I think that came, in part, because he developed the show with his nine-year-old niece. Personally, I don't think TV is a great place for teaching lessons. I was, and am, much more interested in entertaining children with great characters and great stories.

How is Wubbzy different from other shows you've worked on?
Wubbzy is softer, friendlier, not as fast or as joke-oriented. But it's still very funny. Basically, Wubbzy is comedy for kids. Also, Wubbzy is a very huggable character. Each of the shows I've worked on have featured likable characters, but Wubbzy is the one you want to actually have as a friend.

Your company, Next New Networks, is about to launch its 20th video-oriented site. What's your goal with New New Networks?
It's our view that new media demands new programming. Video online should be about more than just repurposing last night's Daily Show. Cable can service thousands of different interests. But, in the real world, there are millions of different interests. Our goal is to create unique programming for the many different communities that are out there online.

Any last words before we go back to watching Wubbzy?
Just that we're so thrilled! The second season of Wubbzy just launched to record ratings, we have the DVD coming out, and the new toys have been really well received. So we're very thankful. We've been working on this show, in one form or another, for six years now, and it's really gratifying to know that you guys are as excited about Wubbzy as we are!

Interview: Shirley Manson

Topic: Hollywood

Recently we spoke with the creator and executive producer Josh Friedman of Fox's fall drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Today wer’re sitting down with the newest addition to this season's cast: Shirley Manson. Be warned, the following interview may contain minor spoilers.

Gamesville: You’re playing a new character on the show. How did this role come about?

Shirley: Josh Friedman contacted me and jokingly asked if I was interested in being on the show. I thought he was kidding so I jokingly said of course I would be. It turned out he was serious! The role was for Catherine Weaver,  the CEO of ZeiraCorp--and the brand new Terminator on the show . When I found that out, I jumped at the opportunity.

What’s Catherine like as a character?

She is pretending to be human so that, in itself, is interesting to me because she’s physically a human being, but is unable to bring what is essentially human to the table all the time.

I find it fascinating; this is a woman who is truly unassailable, because she’s a Terminator and a CEO of a very successful company. It’s really a lot of fun to play.

Given how popular the franchise is, how did you handle the pressure of stepping into the show?

I just didn’t think about the pressure, to be honest. I’ve been under a lot of pressure situations in my life through being a musician, and a touring musician. I have just come to realize in life you just have to block out people’s expectations and hopes and just try to concentrate on enjoying yourself and having fun. At the end of the day, that’s really all you have.

Do you have any other expectations for your character, any kind of arc you want your character to take?

I haven’t really stopped to think about it because I’ve enjoyed where they’ve taken my character so far, and I feel like I’m in good hands. I have noticed that all the Terminators on the show want to meet the other Terminators! We’re always making hints that it would be great fun to have us all take our super powers against each other. Other than that, I’m perfectly happy with where they’re taking it.

Are you continuing to work on music while taking on this new role?

Yes, I’m still working on music. I’m not a huge lead in the show so I have plenty of downtime, despite some of the crazy hours we work. I’ve been working all year on stuff and continue to do so. I have a lot of material and I’m intending to go in and start recording some of the songs next month, so we’ll see if I manage to pull it off.

Were your bandmates and friends shocked when they found out you were going to be playing this role?

No, I don’t think so. Particularly with the Terminator, it’s kind of coming from a similar place in some regards. It’s also coming from a sort of superhero standpoint in the way that comic book superheros grew out of feeling disempowered, and I think musicians in some ways do too. I think in some ways it’s a natural fit, even though it might seem peculiar to the casual onlooker. It makes sense to me!

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles airs Mondays at 8:00PM eastern / 7:00PM central on Fox.

Why Do Leaves Change Color?

Topic: Useless Facts

Many factors influence changing leaf colors--but weather has the greatest impact.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, it's the amount of moisture and temperature that affect the autumn colors. Warm sunny days and cool, but not freezing nights are the key ingredients for vibrant fall foliage.

Topic: Best Pets

This week's Best Pet is Zack. The proud owner: Gamesviller Lee35g of Ontario, Canada.

Distinguishing Personality Traits

Lee35g says: "This is our puppy Zack. He is a Jack Russell / Bison mix and is the best dog in the world. He learned how to swim this summer and loves the water now. We take him fishing with us--he thinks the bobber is a ball and tries to go after it. He loves rocks and stones: His daddy throws them, and he fetches them and brings them back so he can do it again. He has just been the greatest friend anyone could ever want."
