Recipe: Flobow's Shepherd's Bread Bowl

Topic: Recipedia
Shepherd's Bread BowlToday's recipe comes to us from Gamesviller Flobow who wanted to share another creative creation with us: her Shepherd's Bread Bowl. Flobow says, "This recipe is really easy and nice to use when you have a little get together. It's a healthy snack and best of all, there is NO clean up because you eat the serving bowl and all." Here's her creation:

Shepherd's Bread Bowl

  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 envelope dry vegetable soup mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped
Instructions
Carve bread out of middle to create a bowl and tear extra bread into "bite size" pieces. Set aside. In a medium bowl mix wet and dry ingredients together, with the exception of the bread and put into a refrigerator for two hours. Once chilled, spoon dip into the existing bread bowl. Serve with the "bite size" pieces of bread remaining and veggies such as carrot sticks, celery sticks, green peppers or any other veggies that you like.

Prep Time: 2 hours

Kittihawke wins $4,999 playing Three-Eyed Bingo!

Topic: Members

We've got a winner!

Congratulations to Gamesviller Kittihawke from Corbin, KY, who hit the jackpot today while playing Three-Eyed Bingo. With her win she becomes the first Gamesville Gold Member to win at Three-Eyed Bingo!

(Do you need to be a Gold member to win Three-Eyed Bingo? No. Just like a TV game show, Gamesville is supported by advertisers, giving all of our members a fair shot at striking it rich. But if you don't want to view ads during and between bingo games, GV Gold is the way to go--and away Kittihawke went, to the tune of four thousand nine-hundred and ninety-nine dollars!)

Useless Fact!

Harland Corbin, KY is home to Sanders' Cafe, the birthplace of Harland "Colonel" Sanders' Kentucky Fried Chicken. The restaurant and accompanying museum are popular with tour groups and attract visitors from all over the US. Originally, Sanders cooked meals for people who stopped at his service station in Corbin and since the service station was not equipped with  a restaurant he served customers in his living quarters. Find out more about Corbin...

Happy Thanksgiving Gamesvillers!

Topic: Holiday Flare

Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at Gamesville.com!

It's been said before, but it bears repeating: Thanksgiving isn't really about the food or the football; it's about with whom you spend the day and what you do with your time. If you're fortunate enough to have family and friends around--whether they're with you physically or online with you in a game--today is a day to give thanks and reflect on how lucky you truly are!

The team at Gamesville wants to thank you all for making a place for Gamesville in your home; we are, all of us here at Gamesville HQ, grateful for your time and patronage.

Have a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Best Pet: takerslady69's Boo!

Topic: Best Pets
Gamesville Best Pet BooThis week's Best Pet comes to us from Gamesviller takerslady69 of Downey, CA. Meet her exotic friend Boo!

Distinguishing Personality Traits

Takerslady69 says, "Boo is a 12-year-old Welsh Corgi mix with beagle. She has been my companion since she was 6-weeks-old and has been learning new tricks weekly since then. Boo loves to show off in front of all my friends and family. They have all witnessed and heard her talk--she is exceptionally vocal and talks clear as a bell. She can also identify different colors--many people have seen her pick up a blue colored ball when I ask, "Where is the blue ball?". She remembers all her favorite toys by their name and does about 20 other tricks.

"Unlike a stereotypical dog, Boo is unique and exotic looking. Cardigan Welsh Corgies are unusually skinny, with ears that stand up. In our humble opinion, Boo is the most breath-takingly cutest puppy ever. She is as obsessed and in love with us as we are her."

Whitedove463 says, "I wanted to share my recipe, because if you like cheesecake you will love this one!  It's no ordinary cheesecake; by adding maple and pumpkin it makes every bite mouth watering and delicious. Try this cheesecake and this Thanksgiving you will be thankful!" Here's her creation:

Maple-Pumpkin Cheesecake

  • 1 1/2 cups finely crushed graham crackers
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 3 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or maple-flavored syrup
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce or caramel ice cream topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325° F. In a medium bowl combine finely crushed graham crackers, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Press crumb mixture onto the bottom and 1 1/2 inches up the sides of an ungreased 9-inch springform pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove from oven. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.
For the filling, in an extra-large mixing bowl beat cream cheese with an electric mixer on medium to high speed until smooth. Add pumpkin, brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla. Beat cream cheese mixture until well combined and fold in the eggs.
Pour filling into crust-lined pan. Place springform pan in a shallow baking pan. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until center appears nearly set when gently shaken.
Cool in springform pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Using a small thin knife, loosen crust from sides of springform pan. Cool for 30 minutes more. Remove sides of springform pan and cool for 1 hour. COver and chill for at least 4 hours or up to 24 hours. Serve with drizzle of caramel sauce or ice cream over the top of cheesecake.
