Questions About Eligibility At Gamesville

Gamesville and our parent company Lycos review laws routinely to make certain we're abiding by the multitude of laws and requirements from around the world concerning prize games, contests, and sweepstakes.

As I've said before: We want to give prizes to everyone, no matter where in the world they live, but we can't because of various (and sometimes conflicting!) legal restrictions and related matters.

Eligibility for the following Gamesville games -- Bingo Zone, Frantic Fish, Magic 21, Pit Stop Slots, Three-Eyed Bingo, and our sweepstakes -- is now restricted to players located in the United States, the District of Columbia, Canada (excluding Quebec), and the United Kingdom who are 18 years of age or the age of majority in their respective jurisdiction at the time of entry.

Please note! Players worldwide are still able to play games without prizes. That means you can (and will always be able to) enjoy the many other free games Gamesville has to offer such as Spite & Malice, Spades, Hot Streak Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, and Bubble Popper.

Please understand, we did not make this decision lightly. And we are working with our legal team to improve this situation. It is our goal to expand the scope of our prize game programs as the ever-changing legal landscapes permit.

Magic 21 Jackpot

Eagle-eyed players probably just noticed the jackpot in Magic 21 jump from under $300 to well over $3,000. Here's what happened:

Yesterday, a player claimed the jackpot in Magic 21. That player was from Quebec and, as specifically stated in the official rules, players from Quebec are prohibited from winning cash prizes in Magic 21 (not just at Gamesville, but at many game and sweepstakes sites).

While we would very much love to award prizes to all of our players, no matter where they live in the world, we can't because of the multitude of legal restrictions placed on prize games, contests, and sweepstakes by government agencies from around the world.

This morning, we returned the prize back to the Magic 21 prize pool where it will continue to grow until an eligible player claims it.

Recipedia: Enchilada Casserole

From the kitchen of Kandyisdandy47 comes this recipe for Enchilada Casserole...

Ingredients

1 med onion
2-lbs hamburger meat
1/4-teaspoon oregano
1 cup corn
2 cans enchilada sauce
2 8oz. cans tomato sauce
2 tablespoons oil
1/2-teaspoon pepper
12 large tortillas
Sharp cheddar cheese
Salt to taste

Directions

Saute onion in oil.
Add meat and brown.
Add corn, herbs, salt, and pepper.
Combine tomato sauce and enchilada sauce in a bowl.
Pour half of mixture over the meat mixture and simmer for 5 minutes.
In the bottom of a shallow casserole dish or rectangular cake pan, arrange 6 tortillas.
Pour meat mixture over this. Cover with half cheese.
Top with remaining tortillas, then the rest of the cheese.
Pour remaining sauce over all.
Bake in a 350-degree oven 30 minutes or until heated all the way through.

Weird Wire: Japan Fines Companies for Overweight Employees

Here at Gamesville HQ, we can munch on free candy, soft drinks, and salty snacks all day ... which can admittedly be bad for one's waistline. Well, it's a good thing we're not in Japan, where gaining a few pounds at work can cause a company to be fined.

From the article:

Under a national law that came into effect two months ago, companies and local governments must now measure the waistlines of Japanese people between the ages of 40 and 74 as part of their annual checkups. That represents more than 56 million waistlines, or about 44 percent of the entire population.

To reach its goals of shrinking the overweight population by 10 percent over the next four years and 25 percent over the next seven years, the government will impose financial penalties on companies and local governments that fail to meet specific targets. The country’s Ministry of Health argues that the campaign will keep the spread of diseases like diabetes and strokes in check.
