Rosie, the TV Star

Topic: Best Pets

I have to admit, I was pretty fascinated by last week's best pet, Rosie.  I talked to Gamesviller Rosiestricks about her super special pup's television appearances.

"I tried out for David Letterman in San Francisco. The producers fell in love with her and her tricks because she is so intelligent.  The shows are actually boring to film and so rushed, but going to New York was a blast for someone who had never been there.  I didn't really have any time to see the sights.

On the shows, she read minds and did her math. She has done these tricks for 12 1/2 years!"

A Look Back at Bingo Zone...

Bingo Zone was the first game launched by Gamesville in 1996 and was one of the Web's first "free games for real cash prizes."

With the all-new Bingo Zone debuting this week, we thought we'd take a look back at the history of the game. Here is what the Bingo Zone homepage looked like in 1997:

And take a look at how the Bingo card looked in 2000:

Here is a slightly cooler looking version of the Bingo card from 2003:

And here is the Bingo Zone logo from 2002 - the most current logo until recently:

And of course, here is the all new Bingo Zone logo, which I happen to think is the best of all. (I've always been partial to blue over orange.) Do you agree?

Introducing ... The Bingo Zone!

Topic: New Games

Yes, after much anticipation (and impatience from some of you!), the day you've been waiting for is finally here!

We're thrilled to introduce a brand new version of our classic game ...

The Bingo Zone is now bigger and better than ever with features including:

  • A slick new design with larger cards
  • A new chat game we like to call "Dickie's Bonus Balls," and of course ...
  • REAL CASH PRIZES!

Play the redesigned Bingo Zone and let us know what you think!

Edited to add:  Thank you all for your comments and feedback about the new Bingo Zone!  We are working on the issue regarding the game freezing after some wins and hope to have it resolved quickly. It is not affecting wins, however, as you can see. Thanks again!

2hot2slot: "I knew I was going to win!"

Topic: Members

Let's catch up with Angela.  Did she hit the jackpot at the slots in Vegas after hitting the jackpot on Gamesville?  Find out below!

GV: So you won almost $5,000 on Gamesville – what did you do with the money?
AL: I spent it on myself and gave some to my husband and kids and stuff.  It was fun money! I was really excited to win. I had just gotten high speed Internet and I said that I would win because I had high speed Internet.  I knew I was going to win!  And the second game I played that day, I won.  My husband didn’t believe me, and I kept showing him.  He didn’t believe that I could win for free.  I'll never forget it!  It was the 6th of January, Saturday morning, it was around 8 AM.

Any particular favorite purchases?
I went out and bought stuff for the computer - I bought a hard drive.  I bought a $700 station wagon and we drove to Las Vegas.  We took the dog and everything.

Yes, I was going to ask you if you'd been since you said last time that you love slots.
I do love slots - I got to try all the old slots, the ones that are ancient looking, where you can pull the handle. I like them better than the new ones.

Did you win any money playing slots?
I won more money on Blackjack than I did on slots.  We went to an old diner type place.  They had an old Blackjack table, I sat with the oldtimers, they taught me how to play Vegas-style.  I was there for eight hours!

What was your favorite hotel in Vegas?
I really liked the Bellagio just because its really pretty.  We went to the Excalibur.  We got to ride the rides at all the hotels.  We rode the rollercoaster – it was awesome.  We just went and hit the town.

Your kids were very young the last time we spoke – how are they doing?
They’re doing great.  I have a ten year old, 12 yr old, and my oldest just turned 14.  Now I’m dealing with teenagers and pre-teens!  Its just insane!  I am the only girl in the house.  Being a mom and staying at home, its wonderful.

What are your current favorite games?
Yes – I like Magic 21.  I play Gamesville all the time.  It’s a lot of fun, there’s a lot of people, and it's fun to chat.  I did upgrade to the Gold membership.  I already won $30 in the Treasure Chest Game!

Angela Hunt: Slots, Dolphins, and Donna Summer

Topic: Members

In February 2001, we featured an interview with Angela Law (Gamesviller 2hot2slot), who was lucky enough to win $4,398 playing Pay Dirt.  What were Angela's plans for her winnings?  And what animal did she want to be?  Find out below...

Tomorrow:  What DID Angela do with that $4,398 after all?

GV:  What inspired your member name, "2hot2slot"?
AL: I love slot machines and it's a cute name that matches my personality.

How will you spend your winnings?
I am going to pay a few bills, and take my fiance to Las Vegas to see his mother.

What do you do for work?
I am a full-time mother of three boys who are 3, 5 and 7 years old.

What do you enjoy most about staying at home with your sons?
My children give me the greatest joy and they are a lot of fun to be with.

What's your favorite music?
Disco! Donna Summer is the best singer ever!

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
I would love to be a dolphin because they are free, fast and beautiful and live in the ocean, which is the most beautiful place in the world.

Who is your hero and why?
My dad, because he is so smart and so kind. He always knows what to say at the right time to make life seem so good.

What would you like to unlearn in the blink of an eye?
I would like to unlearn sex — that would be cool.

Please explain:
Because I finally found the perfect man and I wish he could be my one and only lover.

What are your favorite Gamesville games and why?
I love the treasure hunt games like Pay Dirt and Mouse Burglar because the excitement really gets your blood pumping; especially when you get really close to winning!

Best Pet: Rosie

Topic: Best Pets
This week's Best Pet is Rosie from Denair, CA.  Rosie has some very special abilities, including mathematics, languages, and horseback riding. (In short, she is much more talented than I am.)

Pet Names: Rosie

Pet Owner: Gamesviller Rosiestricks

Distinguishing Personality Traits:

Rosiestricks says, "Rosie is a 13 year old AKC Boxer. She has been my companion since she was three weeks old.  She was certified service dog for 10 years.
Rosie does things like fetch remote controls, telephones, paper towels, towels, hand towels, washcloths, toilet paper, turn lights off and on, open and shut doors, and retrieve five flavors of soda out of refrigerator.

Rosie also does school shows where she shows her mathematical abilities.
Rosie can add, subtract, multiply, and divide. She also knows her ABCs in sign language; she knows square roots to 144; and she knows how many letters in the words of colors in English and Spanish,  presidents' names, and state names.
She can also answer simple yes and no questions.  She does about 20 dumb dog tricks, but Rosie does not know she is a  D - O - G!  She has been on Letterman, Maury, and soon, Ellen DeGeneres.

She has been learning new tricks weekly since she was five weeks old, and is a dog that is smart enough to know how to be paid to work - no treat, no trick!  Rosie's abilities have been passed down to a couple of her grandchildren also, but  none can outdo Grandma.

Rosie' s hobbies include riding on a jetski, and swimming after ducks.  I take her to the lake every Thursday to swim and she will swim all day and she can ride on the back of a horse.

I love this dog, and have reserved a room in the nut hospital for the year I lose her.  There is no way to replace a pet like Rosie!"

Best Member Name: Northernsoulgirl

Topic: Members

This week's best member name is Northernsoulgirl from Hull, UK.

Northernsoulgirl  says, "I am an avid fan of Northern soul music and am often found attending various Northern soul allnighters and weekenders all over the United Kingdom.  I also buy loads of original vinyl - all white label DJ copies of Northern Detroit and Sixties soul by American artists.  A lot of the songs on the scene were never mainstream hits but made it big in the underground soul scene and the prices paid for the records reflect this.  For example, a record called 'Do I Love You' by Frank Wilson was sold a few years ago for £15,000 ... a bit out of my league!  The most I have ever paid was for a seven inch single called 'Fascinating Girl' by an artist called George Lemons for which i paid £2275, but was worth it.

Weird Wire: Lost Bird Asks for Help

Topic: Weird Wire™

All parents instruct their children to remember their names and addresses in case of emergency.  Some pet owners may instruct their critters similarly, but they don't actually expect them to remember this information ... right?

Well, one lost parrot in Tokyo apparently did.

From the article:

"I'm Mr. Yosuke Nakamura," the bird told the veterinarian, according to Uemura. The parrot also provided his full home address, down to the street number, and even entertained the hospital staff by singing songs.

Wow.  Sounds like Mr. Nakamura is one smart bird.  Might he possibly be looking for a job?
